Overview

Salaam University started the academic activity in 2009 as a medical school to help train local doctors and health workers. The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery provides high-level quality teaching, facilitated by overseas trained specialists in their field. Faculty of Medicine and Surgery offers the combined Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.

Programme Duration

Medical training is six years divided into two parts of three years each. The first part consists of taught courses with lab and classroom practice where students gain knowledge of the human body, how it functions and how to examine it. The second part is divided into two: first two years of clinical courses with emphasis on diseased body and practical skills in MCHs and Hospitals, and the last year is a hospital internship with obligatory rotations through Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Community and Emergency Medicine.
