The rights, responsibilities, and conduct standards for all Salaam University students.

Introduction

All students at Salaam University are responsible for conducting in a manner that enhances an environment of learning in which the rights, dignity, worth, and freedom of each member of the academic community are respected. Violations of University policies, rules or regulations may result in imposition of punishment.

Authority for Students Discipline

The University holds the authority to maintain order and discipline among its students. Authority for student discipline rests with the University administration through the Student Affairs Office, which acts on behalf of the University to address conduct that violates University policies, rules, or regulations.

Definition of Misconduct

Misconduct is any behaviour by a student that disrupts the academic environment, violates University policies, or infringes upon the rights, dignity, worth, and freedom of other members of the academic community. Misconduct may be academic or non-academic in nature and is subject to disciplinary action by the University.

Standards of Classroom Behavior

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that supports an environment of learning. Behaviour that disrupts lectures, tutorials, or any other instructional activity is not permitted. Students must respect the instructor and fellow students at all times and follow the reasonable instructions of teaching staff in the classroom.

Reports of Misconduct

Any member of the academic community may report suspected misconduct to the Student Affairs Office. Reports are reviewed and, where appropriate, investigated by the University. Students reported for misconduct are given the opportunity to respond before any disciplinary decision is made.

Academic Misconduct

Academic misconduct includes any dishonest behaviour in connection with academic work, such as cheating in examinations, plagiarism, fabrication of data, collusion, or impersonation. Academic misconduct undermines the integrity of the University's qualifications and is treated as a serious violation subject to disciplinary action.

Student Privacy

The University respects the privacy of its students and protects the personal and academic information it holds. Student records are kept confidential and are released only in accordance with University policy and applicable regulations.

Academic Discipline

The University maintains academic discipline to safeguard the standards and reputation of its programmes. Students who breach academic regulations or commit academic misconduct are subject to disciplinary measures determined by the University, which may range from a formal warning to dismissal depending on the severity of the violation.

Attendance Rules

  1. 1Students should attend all classes regularly and punctually.
  2. 2Students coming late by more than 30 minutes will not be given attendance for that period.
  3. 3A student with 30% absence will not be eligible to sit for Semester Examinations.
  4. 4Students are not permitted to absent themselves without prior permission.
  5. 5Students without Identity Card will be marked as absent.
  6. 6If a student absents for three consecutive days without leave, they will receive a last warning.
