Salaam University Nutrition Students Conduct Practical Child Nutritional Assessment

Students from the Nutrition Department at Salaam University successfully participated in a practical session on child nutritional assessment, strengthening their understanding of the methods used to evaluate children's nutritional status, growth, and overall health.

During the session, students learned and practised three key components of nutritional assessment:

1. Anthropometric Measurements

Students explored how to measure body weight, height, and other relevant body measurements to monitor children's growth and assess their nutritional status.

2. Clinical Assessment

Students learned to identify physical signs that may indicate malnutrition or other health conditions associated with nutritional deficiencies.

3. Dietary Assessment

Students gained practical knowledge of assessing children's food intake, dietary patterns, and feeding practices to better understand their nutritional needs.

This practical session provided students with valuable hands-on experience, helping them connect theoretical knowledge with practical skills in child nutrition assessment. It also emphasized the importance of early identification of nutritional problems and promoting healthy growth and development among children.

Salaam University remains committed to providing quality education through practical learning experiences that prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to community health and nutritional well-being.
